He fills the frame. Dark wide brim hat pulled low, wire rim glasses down his nose, a white beard that has clearly never been trimmed on a schedule, and a red neckerchief knotted at his throat instead of a collar. One brown leather glove is up near his chin, so he is caught mid thought rather than mid wave. The coat is dark and work worn with heavy mismatched buttons, and the background falls away into shadow so there is nothing competing with him. Painted loose and warm in an oil style, with the brushwork left visible.

What makes this a cowboy Santa Claus?
The hat, the neckerchief and the wear on him. Tailor Made Rooms painted him as a man who works outside, with a wide brim instead of a stocking cap and a knotted red scarf instead of a fur collar, so he reads as western first and Christmas second.
How is this different from the other cowboy Santa canvases?
This is the portrait. The other two put him with his horse, one standing quietly and one riding out. This one is just his face, filling a square frame, which makes it the closest and most personal of the three and the only one that works as a single strong piece on a narrow wall.
Should I choose the black frame or the white one?
The black frame is the natural match here, because the background of the painting is already dark and the frame carries it right to the edge. The white frame gives you contrast and a lighter, more gallery like look if the wall behind it is dark. Both are solid wood and both ship ready to hang.
What size should I order?
Because it is a portrait rather than a landscape, it can take a narrower wall than the other pieces. Over furniture, aim for roughly two thirds the width of what sits below it, and center the art 57 to 60 inches from the floor. Cut the square out of painters tape and stick it on the wall first, it costs nothing and it settles the question.
Can I hang it on a porch or outdoors?
No. Canvas is an indoor material and weather will ruin it. For a covered porch or an exposed wall, our printed 3mm aluminum composite signs are the right product and they live on the metal sign pages.
