Custom Pet Portraits, Painted From Your Photograph
A custom pet portrait starts with a photograph you already have. Send it over, tell us a little about the animal in it, and our designer paints your pet into the artwork. You see a proof and approve it before anything goes to print, then it ships as a gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang.
People order these for the obvious reasons and the quieter ones. A new puppy. A dog who has been in the family longer than the children. A cat who owns the chair by the window. And often, a pet who is gone, where a photograph on a phone was never going to be enough.
Dog Portraits, Cat Portraits and Everything Else
Dog portraits are what we are asked for most, every breed from a Great Dane to a Chihuahua, and mixed breeds just as often. Cat portraits run a close second and suit the same treatment. We also paint horses, cattle, goats, chickens and the occasional parrot. If it has a face and you love it, it can be painted.
Two or three animals can share one canvas. Tell us when you send the photos and we will compose them together rather than as separate pieces.

How to Send a Good Photograph
The painting can only be as good as what you send, so it is worth two minutes of care. Daylight beats flash every time. Get down to the animal's eye level rather than shooting from above. Fill the frame with the head and shoulders, and make sure the eyes are sharp, because the eyes are what make a portrait look like that particular animal and not just that breed.
A slightly blurred photo of the right moment is usually better than a crisp photo of the wrong one. Send two or three if you are unsure and we will tell you which one will work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need from me?
One clear photograph, the pet's name if you want it used, and a note about anything the camera missed. A crooked ear, one blue eye, the grey coming in around the muzzle. Those details are what make people stop in front of the finished piece.
Can you do a pet who has passed away?
Yes, and we do it often. Older or lower quality photographs are usually workable. Send what you have and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it look like them before you commit.
Is this painted or printed?
Both, in sequence. The artwork is painted by a designer, then produced as a gallery wrapped canvas print. What arrives is a print of an original painting of your pet.
Can I have more than one pet on the canvas?
Yes. Send a photograph of each and say how you would like them arranged. Two is comfortable on a square canvas, three works better on the larger sizes.
What size should I order?
For a single pet, 16 by 16 inches reads well in a hallway or above a console, and 24 by 24 holds a wall on its own. For two or more animals, go to 24 by 24 or 36 by 36 so each face stays large enough to recognize from across the room.
Can I choose the style or the background?
Yes. The vintage Santa scenes in our Santa Pet Portraits collection are the most requested, and they are available all year, not only at Christmas. If you want something else, a plain studio ground, a landscape, a particular color, say so when you order.
Do you ship to Canada?
Yes, and shipping is free to both the USA and Canada.
What if the proof is not right?
Tell us. The proof exists so that it can be changed. Nothing is printed until you are happy with what you are looking at.
