A Cowboy Santa Nobody Is Watching
Both of them are in profile, facing the same way, foreheads together. His eyes are shut. The hat is a worn brown felt with a wide brim, the beard is full and white against a rust red coat, and the gear is still slung over his shoulder because he has not put it down yet. Behind them the snow is soft and pale and a stand of dark pines runs up the left side of the frame. It is painted rather than photographed, and the brushwork shows in the horse's winter coat.

This is the quietest piece in the collection. There is no motion in it and nothing to look at except the two of them, which makes it the one people pick when the sign is going somewhere personal. Over a bed, in a study, along a hallway, or on a mantel in a room where people actually sit. The horizontal shape wants a little width beneath it, and it reads as western all year rather than only through December.

Questions About This Western Santa Canvas
How is this different from the other cowboy Santa canvases?
This is the still one. Both figures are in profile with their heads together and his eyes closed, so it reads as a private moment rather than a scene. Taking a Breather is the closest relative, but in that one he is looking at you. Here he is not.
What is he carrying?
His gear, still over one shoulder. It is a small detail that does a lot of work. He has stopped, but he has not finished, which is the whole idea behind a cowboy Santa in the first place.
Should I choose the black frame or the white one?
Black deepens the rust reds and the dark coat of the horse and suits wood, stone and leather. White keeps the snow bright and works against a pale wall. Both are solid wood and both ship ready to hang.
What size should I order?
Measure whatever it hangs above and aim for roughly two thirds of that width in artwork. Over a mantel or a bed the 30 by 20 or 36 by 24 is usually right. Center it 57 to 60 inches from the floor and leave 6 to 10 inches above the furniture. Cut the size out of painters tape and put it on the wall first, it costs nothing and it settles the question.
Can it go on a porch or outdoors?
No. Canvas is an indoor material and weather will ruin it. For a covered porch or an exposed wall, our printed 3mm aluminum composite signs are the right product.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Mounting hardware comes attached and leveling bumpers are included to protect the wall.
