An Old World Santa and the Last Toy Off the Bench
He is leaning in beside a window with a gold locomotive in his gloved hands, turning it to check the work. The tree behind him is hung with old gold and amber ornaments, and the whole frame is lit the colour of lamplight rather than daylight. It is the most European of the Santas here, the one closest to the old Saint Nicholas pictures.

The colour and the detail. Tailor Made Rooms painted him in lamplight golds and deep reds with a brass toy and antique ornaments, closer to the old Saint Nicholas illustrations than to the bright modern Santa.
Will it suit a room with dark wood or antiques?
That is what it was drawn for. The gold and oxblood palette sits comfortably against panelling, leather and older furniture rather than fighting it.
