How it Began
From a Bunny Sign to Your Perfect Space: The Tailor Made Story
You can tell a lot about a place before you ever meet the people who call it theirs.
Pull up to the gate and look at the sign. The name it carries, the story behind it, and the way it has weathered the seasons. Sometimes that tells you almost everything you need to know.
I'm Tammy, founder and designer behind Tailor Made Rooms Home Decor and Tailor Made Farm & Ranch Signs. If you had told me a few years ago that I would one day be creating entrance signs for cattle operations in Texas, Montana, and places all across the country, I probably would not have believed you.
But that is exactly where this story led me.
It started with a bunny
I grew up in rural Michigan. Farm country, 4-H kids, and families who worked the land. I spent 36 years in graphic design, web design, and marketing while my husband of 28 years and I raised our two daughters and built a life here.
Then 2020 brought everything to a stop.
Like so many people, I needed a creative outlet. Something positive to focus on during an uncertain time. One afternoon I designed a little rabbit sign for my mantel called Cottontail's Carrot Farm.
I had never really decorated for Easter before. I bought a few baskets, but that was about the extent of it.
Still, in the middle of a Michigan winter that had gone on far too long, that rabbit sign made me smile every time I walked past it.
So I made another sign. Then another.
They became bigger, bolder, and eventually built to last outdoors.
That is truly how it began. With one little sign sitting on a mantel.
The Sign That Changed Everything
Everything changed when a woman in the mountains found me online and asked for a sign to hang above her barn door. Faith Farms.
That project stayed with me.
This was no longer simply something to hang on a wall. It was the face of her place. The first thing visitors saw when they pulled in, and the thing she walked under every morning on her way to the horses.
It represented their home, their work, and something they had built with pride.
After that I fell in love with creating outdoor signs. Ranch entrances, farm signs, gate markers, family names, and livestock brands. Signs made for real places and the people who care for them.
What we build now
Since 2020 we have created more than 7,000 custom pieces.
Many of them now hang on gates and barns, while others have found homes in kitchens, basement bars, businesses, and gathering spaces. A ranch gate in Texas, a lake house in Michigan, a beach cottage on the coast, a modern farmhouse in the suburbs.
Our outdoor signs are made from durable aluminum and created to withstand years of changing seasons. Indoors, canvas and acrylic. Every piece is designed in Michigan and made to order in North America.
The best part
The best part of this work is not what most people would expect. It is the emails, the conversations, and the stories people share with me.
They tell me about their property and why they chose its name. Sometimes the name began as a family joke that simply stuck. Sometimes it was passed down from a grandfather and has been part of the family for generations.
More than a few customers have told me their property is their own little piece of heaven, and I know they mean it.
Then, months later, a photograph appears in a review or arrives in my inbox.
The sign leaves here as a design on a screen. It comes back to me as a photograph taken from someone’s driveway, hanging proudly on a gate, barn, or wall.
Grammy's Park
One of those photographs is a favorite of mine.
It is a woman everyone calls Grammy, standing beside the entrance sign to Grammy’s Park in Driftwood, Texas. Her family built that park in a small community that wanted a children’s park for everyone in it. Then they worked with us to create the sign at its gate. Deep blue, edged in gold, with three sunflowers tucked beside her name. They just loved it.
Most photographs arrive in my inbox. This one I was lucky enough to stand in front of myself. I have visited Grammy’s Park in Texas, and there is something about seeing a sign you helped create at the gate of a place a family built for their whole community.
It is not just a name on a gate. It is a welcome to every child, and every family, who walks through it.
Every place has a story. Sometimes telling it means a name at the end of a driveway. Sometimes it is the finishing touch in a kitchen or a home bar. We help you tell it beautifully.
Why it matters
I am not a rancher. I am a designer who respects the life you have built.
The sign out front is more than decoration. It is identity. It is a welcome, an introduction, and the handshake before the handshake.
If I am going to place your name on something, I want it to feel worthy of the home, farm, ranch, park, or business it represents.
Whether your gate is waiting for a name, or there is a wall in your home that has felt unfinished for years, I would like to help.
Who you are dealing with
There's a team here keeping orders moving and making sure every piece finds its way home, and artists beside me who design right along with me. I'm still at the desk drawing. That's the part I would never hand off.
The office itself is usually a little quieter.
There are three of us in it, and one of us is a dog.
Tucker, our Collie, has been under my desk since 2024. He has never once helped complete an order, but he does remind me to get out of my chair, step outside, and take a walk. On many days that may be the more important job.
My daughter Nicki's desk sits next to mine. She has her own work, and she will happily tell you so if you ask. She colors, she creates, and she keeps very busy. Some days I am fairly certain she gets more done than I do.
Nicki has a saying that somehow came to capture what we have built here.
