Christian Christmas Decor: Be Still, and Know That I Am God

Framed canvas print in a solid wood frame you choose in black or white, ready to hang out of the box.

Six words most people already know by heart, set in a place that looks like the feeling.

A Winter Church at the Last of the Light

A white clapboard church stands on the far bank with its steeple against the mountains and every window lit warm from inside. Snow sits heavy on the pines around it, a few village houses glow further along the shore, and the whole scene lands twice over in the still water in the foreground. The sky behind the ridge has gone apricot and lavender, the half hour after the sun is gone and before the dark closes in.

Across the top, in a quiet hand lettered script, Be still, and know that I am God. with Psalm 46:10 beneath it. The verse sits in the open sky rather than over the artwork, so it reads clearly without covering anything.

Christmas Decor That Says Something

Most Christmas wall decor is red, green and loud. This is the quiet end of the shelf: a church at dusk, snow on the pines, and a verse that has carried people through a lot of hard Decembers. It belongs over a mantel with stockings under it, in an entry where people arrive, or in the room where the family actually sits.

And because the scene is a winter landscape rather than a nativity, there is nothing stopping you leaving it up into the new year if you want to.

Why This Verse, On This Scene

Psalm 46:10 is a verse people reach for when things are loud, and December is loud. Setting it over a frozen lake at dusk rather than a sunrise or a mountaintop was deliberate. The scene is quiet rather than triumphant, and that is closer to what the words actually ask for.

Where It Goes

Above a mantel, over a sofa, in an entry, a hallway, a study or a bedroom. It also suits a church office, a fellowship hall or a counseling room. The palette is soft, blue grey and warm gold, so it sits well with flocked greenery, white lanterns and candlelight rather than fighting them.

Honest About What This Is

This is a printed reproduction on canvas, not an original painting. The artwork was created in a painterly style and then printed to order in the size you choose, which is how we can offer it at these prices and in five sizes rather than one. The brushwork you see is part of the image.

The canvas is stretched over a wood frame and finished in a solid wood floater frame. Sizes refer to the canvas inside the frame, so the outside measurement runs a little larger than the size you pick.

Questions About This Scripture Canvas

What verse is on this piece?

Psalm 46:10, Be still, and know that I am God. It is lettered across the sky at the top of the artwork with the reference beneath it.

Is this an original painting?

No. It is a printed canvas reproduction of original artwork, made to order in the size you choose. Tailor Made Rooms prints it with fade resistant inks and finishes it in a solid wood frame, so what arrives is ready to hang rather than ready to frame.

Is this a Christmas piece?

Yes. Tailor Made Rooms designed it as Christian Christmas decor, and it hangs naturally with flocked greenery, lanterns and stockings. The scene itself is a winter church rather than a nativity, so plenty of people leave it up well past the decorations coming down.

Should I choose the black frame or the white one?

Black holds the cool blues and makes the lit windows carry further across a room. White keeps it soft and gallery like and suits a pale wall or a room already working in creams and flocked white. Both are solid wood and both ship ready to hang.

Would this suit a church, an office or a counseling room?

Yes. The verse reads from a distance, the palette is calm rather than loud, and there is nothing in the scene tied to a denomination. Tailor Made Rooms prints the larger sizes for exactly these rooms.

Can I hang it on a porch or outdoors?

No. Canvas is an indoor material and weather will ruin it. For a covered porch or an exposed wall, our printed 3mm aluminum composite signs are the right product and they live on the metal sign pages.

What size should I order?

Measure whatever it will hang above and aim for roughly two thirds of that width in artwork. Over a sofa or a mantel that usually lands at 30x20 or 36x24 inches. For a hallway, a study or a bedside wall, 18x12 or 24x16 inches is plenty. Cut the size out of painters tape and stick it on the wall for a day before you order.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Mounting hardware comes attached and leveling bumpers are included to protect the wall.
