This one has a Texas longhorn leaning into his shoulder like the two of them have known each other a long time.

A Cowboy Santa Who Works Cattle

He stands cheek to cheek with the steer, pale Stetson pushed back off his forehead, wire rim glasses down his nose, white beard full against a heavy coat trimmed in shearling. The longhorn fills the right side of the frame, brown and white and close enough that one horn sweeps clear behind Santa's hat. Snow is coming down over open range behind them and the sky has gone gold at the edges the way it does right before the light leaves. It is painted rather than photographed, and you can see the brushwork in the fur and the hide.

Western Santa Wall Art for a Room With Wood In It

This is the warm one in the collection. It is a standing piece rather than a riding piece, built on closeness between a man and an animal, so it holds a room instead of pulling you through it. The horizontal shape suits a fireplace, a long console or the wall above a bed. It earns its keep in a lodge, a den, a ranch house entry, a bar corner or a games room, and it reads as western all year rather than only in December.

What Arrives

✔ Framed canvas print, finished in a solid wood frame in your choice of black or white

✔ Five sizes, from 12 by 8 inches up to 36 by 24 inches

✔ Sizes refer to the canvas inside the frame, so the outside measurement runs a little larger

✔ Semi gloss print for added depth and color

✔ Printed with fade resistant inks that are water based and solvent free, so there is nothing harsh going up on your wall

✔ Mounting hardware attached, so it hangs straight out of the packaging

✔ Leveling bumpers included to protect the wall

✔ Designed in Michigan, made to order in North America

✔ Free shipping to the USA and Canada

Questions About This Western Santa Canvas

What breed is the steer in this painting?

A Texas longhorn. You can tell by the horn spread and the brindled brown and white hide. It is the breed most people picture when they picture Texas, which is part of why this piece lands differently from the horse paintings in the same collection.

How is this different from the other cowboy Santa canvases?

Most of the others put him on horseback and moving. This one has him standing still with a longhorn, so it is the close, warm piece rather than the wide, traveling piece. If you want motion, look at the sunset ride or the packhorse. If you want something that settles a mantel, this is the one.

Should I choose the black frame or the white one?

Black deepens the browns and the hide and suits wood paneling, leather and darker walls. White keeps it lighter and works against a pale wall or a painted brick fireplace. Both are solid wood and both ship ready to hang.

What size should I order?

Measure whatever it hangs above and aim for roughly two thirds of that width in artwork. Over a standard mantel the 30 by 20 or the 36 by 24 is usually the right call. Center it 57 to 60 inches from the floor and leave 6 to 10 inches above the furniture. Cut the size out of painters tape and put it on the wall first, it costs nothing and it settles the question.

Can I hang it above a working fireplace?

Yes, with a little sense. Keep it above the heat line and off a mantel that runs hot, because sustained heat and smoke are hard on any canvas. A mantel with enough depth to carry the heat up and away is fine.

Can it go on a porch or outdoors?

No. Canvas is an indoor material and weather will ruin it. For a covered porch or an exposed wall, our printed 3mm aluminum composite signs are the right product.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Mounting hardware comes attached and leveling bumpers are included to protect the wall.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0515/0811/7704/files/cowboy-santa-longhorn-western-santa-canvas-mantel.jpg?v=1791535492
