This one belongs to you.

Coastal Farmhouse Christmas, Done Properly

The whole piece is built on a soft weathered white plank background with the grain and the wear printed into it. Deep red lettering sits over the top in an ornate hand lettered script, and fine green filigree scrolls into all four corners. It is the farmhouse Christmas palette, white and red and evergreen, with sand tones and a wash of seafoam running through it.

If your house runs on white walls, natural wood, black hardware and a little weathered timber the rest of the year, this does not ask the room to become something else for December.

What You Put On It

You give us two things and we set them into the design. Your family surname runs across the bottom, following the curve under the artwork. Your established year sits on the right, balanced against EST. on the left. That year can be the one you married, the one you bought the house, or the one the first of you turned up in town. It is your call and nobody else needs it explained.

Shorter names sit large and open. Longer names are set a little tighter so the whole name stays on one line and stays readable from across a room. Send us the spelling exactly as you want it printed, capitals and all, and we follow it.

One Detail That Sets It Apart

At the center of the design there is a gathered spray of white blooms, red berries, winter greenery and pale blue green foliage. Tucked into the middle of it is a starfish with a scatter of pearls. On a lake house, a beach house or a coastal farmhouse that one detail does a lot of work, and in an inland farmhouse it simply reads as part of the arrangement. It is the kind of thing guests notice on the second look rather than the first.

Where It Goes

This is a welcome piece, so it earns its keep where people arrive. An entryway, a front hall, over a console by the door, above a mantel, or on a covered porch wall if you choose the aluminum. It also does well in a rental or a lake house where guests should know whose place they have walked into.

Canvas or Metal

Stretched canvas is the indoor choice. It is warm, it has a little texture, and it suits a hall or a mantel where nothing is going to get rained on.

Aluminum is the one to pick if it is going anywhere near weather, including a covered porch, a screened room or an exposed entry wall. It handles sun, cold and damp, and for the customers who hang ours near the water, salty sea air is not a problem either.

What Arrives

✔ Personalized with your family surname and your established year, set into the design before printing

✔ Seven sizes from 16x8 inches up to 48x24 inches, in stretched canvas or aluminum

✔ Stretched canvas comes gallery wrapped with the artwork carried around the edges, so no frame is needed

✔ Aluminum is 3mm aluminum composite, rigid and weather ready, for porches and exposed walls

✔ Mounting hardware included, so it hangs straight out of the packaging

✔ Designed in Michigan, made to order in North America

Honest About the Materials

The weathered plank background is printed artwork, not real wood. There are no boards, no grooves and nothing to warp, split or need refinishing. What you get is the look of an old painted plank sign with none of the upkeep that real timber asks for.

The same goes for the metal version. Our signs are made of aluminum. There is no embossing, raised lettering, or engraved lettering on our signs. They are graphically printed to look as if they have those effects.

Questions About This Personalized Christmas Sign

What exactly do I get to personalize?

Two fields. Your family surname across the bottom and your established year on the right. Tailor Made Rooms sets both into the artwork before anything is printed, so the type is part of the design rather than stuck on top of it.

Does this work in a coastal farmhouse room?

It was built for one. Bright airy walls, crisp whites, sand tones, driftwood, rope and shells are exactly the setting this was designed against, and the painted plank background sits naturally among them. Tailor Made Rooms keeps a whole farmhouse decor range, so this is not a one off.

What year should I use for the established date?

Whichever one means something to your family. Most people use a wedding year or the year they moved into the house. There is no wrong answer and the sign does not explain it, which is part of the charm.

Will a long last name still fit?

Yes. Tailor Made Rooms adjusts the letter spacing so the name stays on a single line and stays legible. A longer name simply sits a little tighter than a short one. If you are unsure how yours will look, ask us before you order and we will tell you straight.

What is the starfish doing in a farmhouse design?

Earning its place. It sits inside the central floral spray alongside the berries and greenery, so it reads as coastal farmhouse in a beach or lake house and simply as part of the arrangement anywhere else. Tailor Made Rooms wove it in rather than bolting it on.

Can I hang it outside?

Choose the aluminum if you want to. It is built for a covered porch, a screened room or an exposed entry wall and it handles sun, cold, damp and salt air. The stretched canvas is an indoor material and weather will ruin it, so keep that one in the hall.

Is it real wood?

No. The plank background is printed. Tailor Made Rooms prints the weathered white wood look onto canvas or onto 3mm aluminum composite, so you get the character of an old painted sign without the warping and refinishing.

What size should I order?

Measure whatever it will hang above and aim for roughly two thirds of that width in artwork. Over a standard console or mantel that usually lands at 30x15 or 36x18 inches. For a narrow entry wall or a powder room, 16x8 or 20x10 inches is plenty. Cut the size out of painters tape and stick it on the wall first, it costs nothing and it settles the question.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes.
