framed-nativity-scene
Framed Nativity Wall Art - Nativity Scene Canvas, Black or White Frame

Framed Nativity Wall Art - Nativity Scene Canvas

The same quiet nativity, finished in a solid wood frame. Jesus rests in a straw crib while Joseph leans over him from one side and Mary kneels on the other, with an ox and two lambs close enough to be part of it. A single shaft of light falls through the stable roof and lands on the crib first. Choose black or white, pick your size, and it arrives ready to hang.

Framed Or Unframed, Your Call

This listing is the framed version. The printed canvas is set inside a solid wood frame with a narrow float between the canvas edge and the moulding, which gives the piece a finished border and a little more presence on the wall.

If you would rather have the clean modern look with no frame, we print the same artwork as an unframed gallery wrapped canvas. Same scene, same inks, and it comes in a 32x48 that the framed version does not. Pick whichever suits the wall and the furniture around it.

Black Frame Or White

Black is the stronger choice in most rooms. The stable interior in this artwork is already deep brown and near black, so a black frame reads as an extension of the scene rather than a border around it. Take black if the room has walnut, mahogany, reclaimed wood or brass, if it is going above a dining sideboard or a mantel, or if you want the piece to anchor the wall.

White keeps it light. It separates the dark stable from a pale wall instead of blending into it, which makes the shaft of light read brighter from across the room. Take white if the walls are cream or soft grey, if the furniture is light oak or painted, or if the room is already working in linen and greenery rather than dark wood.

Both frames are solid wood and both ship ready to hang, so this is purely about the room.

What You Get

✔ Canvas print set in a solid wood frame, black or white, your choice at checkout

✔ Five sizes from 12x8 up to 36x24 inches

✔ Printed with fade resistant inks that are water based and solvent free

✔ Semi gloss finish for deeper color in the straw and the light

✔ Mounting hardware arrives attached, so it hangs the day it lands

✔ Leveling bumpers included to protect the wall and keep the piece sitting straight

✔ Sizes refer to the canvas inside the frame, so the finished piece measures a little larger

✔ Designed in Michigan, made to order in North America

Choosing Your Size

Measure the furniture or the wall space it will hang above and aim for roughly two thirds of that width in artwork. Above a sofa, a mantel or a dining sideboard that usually lands at 30x20 or 36x24 inches. For an entry, a hallway, a study or a bedside wall, 18x12 or 24x16 inches is the comfortable middle. The 12x8 suits a shelf lean, a stair gallery wall or the narrow stretch beside a door.

Remember that the size you pick is the canvas, not the outside of the frame, so the finished piece hangs a little larger than the number suggests. Hang it at eye level, centered 57 to 60 inches from the floor, and when it sits above furniture leave 6 to 10 inches between the top of that furniture and the bottom of the frame so the two read as one group.

Questions We Get Asked

Is this a painting or a print?

It is a print. The artwork was digitally designed in a painterly style and then printed to order on canvas and framed in the size you choose, which is how we can offer it in five sizes and two frame colors rather than as one single piece. The brushwork you see is part of the image, not paint sitting on the surface.

Should we pick the black frame or the white one?

Black reads as an extension of the dark stable in the artwork and anchors a wall, which suits walnut, mahogany, reclaimed wood and brass. White separates the scene from a pale wall and makes the light in it read brighter, which suits cream or grey walls and light oak furniture. Both are solid wood.

Do the sizes include the frame?

No. The size you choose is the canvas inside the frame, so the finished piece measures a little larger all round. Allow for that when you are matching it to a wall space or planning a gallery wall.

Can we get this unframed instead?

Yes. The same nativity is available as an unframed gallery wrapped canvas, which is also the only way to get it in the large 32x48.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Mounting hardware comes attached and leveling bumpers are included, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to assemble.

Is there glass over the print?

No. This is a framed canvas, not a framed paper print behind glass. There is nothing to reflect a lamp or a window back at you, and nothing to break in shipping.

Can this hang on a porch, in a bathroom or anywhere damp?

No. Canvas and wood are both indoor materials. Steam, weather and direct afternoon sun will all shorten the life of the piece, so keep it on an interior wall away from a hot south facing window and out of a bathroom that gets steamy.

What else do you make for faith based rooms?

Our scripture and faith pieces live together in the Christian Wall Art collection.
